This article will show you the features and functionality of the Belkin Dock Utility.
MAC Address Pass Through
The Belkin Dock Utility provides the capability of taking over the Media Access Control (MAC) address of a network adapter on a computer. This will prioritize cloning or copying the MAC address of a physical Ethernet adapter. If no Ethernet adapter is detected, it will instead clone or copy the WiFi adapter's MAC address.
To enable it, a compatible adapter needs to be plugged into a port on your computer. Once that is done, the user interface of the utility will show the MAC address under the Current MAC Address
The screen will show the adapter’s current MAC address as assigned by your computer, and the MAC Address Pass Through option is enabled.
When the MAC Address Pass Through option is selected, a spinner will appear on the screen, indicating that the MAC Address Pass Through operation is taking place.
After a few seconds, a checkmark will appear next to the option, indicating that the functionality has been enabled. At that stage, the Current MAC Address will display the new MAC Address that it took from the selected adapter. This means that the Belkin Dock Utility operation was successful.
About Belkin Software
The option shows a secondary screen with information about the Belkin Dock Utility. It provides the Version number, an online Version check, a link to download Updates, and a link to the User Guide documentation.
