Adding the Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way, WLS0503 to the Home app

The Wemo Smart Light Switch 3-Way, WLS0503 supports both single-pole and 3-way configurations. Compatible with neutral wiring used in most homes, it helps eliminate guesswork and provides peace of mind in a smart lighting solution. The Wemo® WLS0503 is Thread-certified, built on the latest and greatest technology, and works exclusively with Apple® HomeKit®.

This article will help you set up the Wemo WLS0503 with the Apple Home app.

Before you begin:

You will need an iOS device supporting iOS 12 or higher that has the Apple Home app.
Connect the Wemo WLS0503 to your home wiring. Once done, turn the power back ON. The Wemo WLS0503 will boot up but not directly into setup mode.
Place the Wemo WLS0503 into setup mode. Press any button on the Wemo WLS0503 when the status light begins to flash white. The status light will begin flashing blue to indicate it is now in setup mode.

Using NFC setup

If your iOS device supports Near Field Communication (NFC), you can use this for a quick and easy setup.

Step 1: Unlock your iOS device and hold it near the Wemo WLS0503. The NFC transmitter is located in the center of the unit. Depending on the iOS device used, you may need to move it up or down slowly to an active NFC setup.

Step 2: Once detected, a setup prompt will appear. Tap Add to Home to add to your Home app.

The Apple Home app will take over and continue the setup for you. Simply follow any on-screen instructions. Once the Home app finishes the setup, you can begin customizing and using your Wemo WLS0503.

Using HomeKit® code setup

If your iOS device does not support NFC, you can use the HomeKit setup code located in the quick start guide that came with your Wemo WLS0503. If you misplaced this code, you can also find it on the front of the Wemo WLS0503 behind the faceplate.

Step 1: Open the Apple Home app and tap on the plus ( + ) sign located in the upper right-hand corner of the app.

Step 2: Tap on Add Accessory.

Step 3: Locate the HomeKit setup code and scan it with your device’s camera.
