COMPATIBILITY AND FUNCTIONALITY
1. Does the Wemo Outdoor Plug have surge protection capabilities?
No.

We recommend connecting your Wemo Outdoor Plug directly to a power outlet. A surge protector is different from a GFCI outlet and should not be considered a substitute for one when using outdoors.
3. Why is it recommended to use the Wemo Outdoor Plug with a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlet?
GFCI outlets are recommended to be used for safety. Since the Wemo Outdoor Plug is designed to be used outdoors, it will be exposed to the elements. GFCI outlets are meant to detect any power faults and shut power down to the outlet and preventing potential safety hazards. For more information on GFCI outlets, click here.
4. Can the Wemo Outdoor Plug be used in a pool?
No. The Wemo Outdoor Plug is not waterproof and should not be submerged.
5. Can the Wemo Outdoor Plug be used on the ground?

Using a can of compressed air, you can blow air into the outlets to try and push any water out and help keep the unit from being damaged. Depending on how long it has been in the water it is recommended to completely discontinue usage of the Wemo for safety reasons. Submersion in water is not a reason for warranty replacement.
- If your Wemo was submerged in water and water was allowed to enter the outlets, immediately unplug it, if safe to do so. Depending on how long it has been in the water it is recommended to completely discontinue usage of the Wemo for safety reasons. Submersion in water is not a reason for warranty replacement.
11. What should I do when Wemo Outdoor Plug is receiving poor or no Wi-Fi signal?
