How to view the Foscam security camera over the Internet

The Foscam security camera allows you to monitor your home and business over the Internet. This article will guide you on how to view the Foscam security camera over the Internet.
To view the Foscam camera over the Internet, three (3) major steps should be done:

Configuring the Foscam security camera
Port forwarding
Viewing the Foscam security camera over the Internet

Configuring the Foscam security camera

Step 1:
Open IP Camera Tools then take note of the Foscam security camera’s IP address.

Step 2:
Double-click on the Foscam security camera.

Step 3:
Enter “admin” on the User field and leave the Password field blank. Then, click on the Login button.

Step 4:
Click on Basic Network Settings in the left panel.

Step 5:
Uncheck the Obtain IP from DHCP Server box.

Step 6:
Enter your preferred static IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS Server for the Foscam security camera in the following fields.

Step 7:
Enter “8090” as the Http Port then click Submit.

Port forwarding

Step 1:
Access the router’s web-based setup page.

Viewing the Foscam security camera over the Internet

Step 1:
Using a computer that’s not connected to your wireless network, launch a web browser such as Internet Explorer.

Step 2:
Enter “http:XXXX:8090” in the Address bar then press the [Enter] key.

NOTE: XXXX is your router’s Internet IP Address.
