Connecting your PlayStation® 3 (PS3™) to the wireless network allows you to gain access to online services such as PlayStation® Network and PlayStation® Store, as well as access shared media files and devices in your network.
This article will help in setting up the PS3 to wirelessly connect to the Internet.
NOTE: This article assumes that you are using a North American PS3. If you're using an Asian version, the confirm (X) and cancel (O) buttons' functionality may be reversed.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that no Internet cable is connected to your PS3's Ethernet port, otherwise the console might attempt to configure its network settings through a wired connection. For instructions on how to connect your console via the Ethernet cable, click here.
Step 1:
Power on your PS3 and then go to Settings > Network Settings.

Step 2:
Scroll down to make sure that the Internet Connection is set to Enabled.

Step 3:
Scroll down to Internet Connection Settings and press the X button on the controller.

NOTE: If a prompt appears, press X to begin setup. You will be disconnected from any active Internet connections.

Step 4:
Select Easy and press right.

Step 5:
Select Wireless and press right.

Step 6:
Under WLAN Settings, select Scan then press right. Your PS3 device will begin to search for available networks.

Step 7:
Once the list of active network names (SSID) appears, select your network then press X.

Step 8:
Confirm the correct SSID and press right on your D-pad.

Step 9:
The PS3 automatically highlights the security mode it detects from your router. Press right to proceed to the next screen.

Step 10:
If you selected a security mode, press X to begin entering the network's passphrase. You may use the onscreen keypad or any compatible keyboard. Press START or [Enter] after entering the passphrase.
QUICK TIP: Press right on the D-pad to review your settings.

WPA™ keys are case-sensitive (NOTE:abc is different from ABC). WEP keys are hexadecimal (0-9 and a-f) characters and are not case-sensitive.
Step 11:
Confirm the correct settings from the Settings List then press X.

Once your settings have been saved, press X again to test your connection.

Testing the connection usually takes less than a minute. If you configured the settings correctly and Internet connection is available, the tests should show Succeeded.

If the test fails, try again and make sure that your settings on the console match the ones on the router.
